Safety and Guidelines for Traveling in Southern Thailand

At Adam Travel, your safety is our priority. We understand that some travellers might be concerned about visiting Southern Thailand due to past conflicts. However, we want to assure you that Southern Thailand is generally safe for tourists, especially in popular destinations like Hatyai, Songkhla, and other well-known spots.

Based on First-Hand Experience
Our team has been working in Southern Thailand, and there have been no incidents of attacks or bombings during this time. After speaking with local residents, they consistently confirm that these occurrences are rare and happen far from populated or tourist areas. The bustling cities and serene landscapes are as inviting as ever.

Traveling to Thailand: Essential Guidelines

  • Passport: sure your passport is valid for at least 6 months. If needed, obtain the proper visa before entering Thailand.
  • ID & Copies: Carry your identification (passport/ID) at all times and keep photocopies or digital copies for emergencies
  • Travel Insurance: Make sure to have your travel insurance with you to cover any unforeseen incidents.

Follow Thailand's Rules & Regulations:

  • Immigration Rules: Always respect the length of stay permitted by your visa. Overstaying can lead to fines or detainment.
  • Cultural Respect: Dress modestly, especially when visiting temples or sacred sites. Always remove shoes before entering temples or home
  • No Drugs: Thailand has strict anti-drug laws. Possession of illegal substances can result in severe penalties.

Traffic and Parking Rules:

  • Driving on the Left: Thailand follows left-hand traffic. Be cautious if you're renting a vehicle, and always drive within speed limits.
  • Seatbelts & Helmets: Seatbelts are mandatory for all passengers in vehicles. Helmets are required for motorbike riders.
  • Parking: Park only in designated areas to avoid fines or vehicle towing. Be aware of traffic signs indicating parking restrictions.

Do’s and Don’ts:

  • Do’s:

    • Be polite and show respect towards local customs.
    • Use both hands when giving or receiving items as a sign of respect.
    • Bow slightly when greeting (wai) locals.

  • Don’ts:

    • Don’t touch anyone’s head, as it is considered the most sacred part of the body.
    • Avoid public displays of affection, as they may be viewed as inappropriate.
    • Never point your feet at people or religious objects, which is considered disrespectful.

By following these guidelines, you can ensure a smooth and enjoyable trip to Thailand. At Adam Travel & Tour, we strive to make your experience memorable and hassle-free. Don’t forget, we offer comprehensive travel insurance from Tokio Marine to give you peace of mind throughout your journey.
